Blessing Bags International

The Ohaneson family, with children ranging in age from toddlers to teens, faced the challenge of finding meaningful ways to serve together as a family. Struggling to find activities suitable for all ages, they encountered limitations for most serving opportunities due to age restrictions. This dilemma led to the Ohaneson Family founding Blessing Bags International, a Christ-centered nonprofit offering family-friendly service opportunities for families with children of all ages.

Beginning with making Blessing Bags in their northern Virginia living room, Blessing Bags International has since expanded their reach to serve in 48 states. Since 2013, Blessing Bags International has offered family-friendly service projects, bringing children of all ages and abilities together to create care packages and share God’s love with their community. To continue helping families fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28), Blessing Bags International led their first family-friendly mission trip to Mexico in 2017. Since then, Blessing Bags has continued to host mission trips for families with children of all ages. Blessing Bags International is dedicated to join with families everywhere, helping them instill a servants heart in each of their children. BBI believes you’re never too young to serve!

One key aspect of our ministry is helping families develop a habit of serving together with their children, regardless of age or ability.

Statement of Faith

We adhere to the statement of faith established by the World Evangelical Alliance.  

We Believe:

The Holy Scriptures as originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy; and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, His virgin birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial work, and his personal return in power and glory.

The Salvation of lost and sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Unity of the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, the Body of Christ.
